January 8th, 2009 at 18:36:52 just magic after all these years, merci
January 8th, 2009 at 18:59:51 Donald looks like the biggest dork I've ever seen. His music is super cool though. :P
January 8th, 2009 at 19:22:50 its not purdie... theres a video of him on youtube somewhere. hes an old fart. like me.
January 8th, 2009 at 19:45:49 awesome song. love jim's trombone
January 8th, 2009 at 20:08:48 Don & Walt are pretty cool white guys...Don't cha think???
January 8th, 2009 at 20:31:47 "Close your eyes and you'll be there..." Amazing music when I discovered it in 1989 on RFM, a french pop rock radio. Very nice work.
January 8th, 2009 at 20:54:46 hey russha, does it threaten you when someone has a different opinion than you? you obviuosly have taste, which is evident by your post, but not everyone digs a trombone solo.
January 8th, 2009 at 21:17:45 sure? its a brother whoever it is. i dont know many drummers but i like purdie.
January 8th, 2009 at 21:40:44 subtlety is lost on nincompoops
January 8th, 2009 at 22:03:43 Well actually, except for very early on, Steely Dan was not a "band" at all, but studio guys interpreting Fagen & Becker's stuff. Re-creating those songs to this quality must be very difficult even with the best players in the business.
January 8th, 2009 at 22:26:42 That's not Purdie, but someone doing a damn good impersonation..Dennis Chambers?
January 8th, 2009 at 22:49:41 Walter B & Donald F = best composers ever!!! among the best at least
January 8th, 2009 at 23:12:40 I believe you are correct that it is BP on the drums - no one else like him. Drive west on Sunset to the sea - nothing in the world like that either.
January 8th, 2009 at 23:35:39 im preeeeeeeetty sure thats bernard purdie on drums.. i dont think its humanly possible not to notice that purdie shuffle back there.
January 9th, 2009 at 23:58:38 (for tspnyc) I agree! - Who are the musicians in this video, do you know?
January 9th, 2009 at 00:21:37 What do you think of Circus Money, Paddy?
January 9th, 2009 at 00:44:36 The lyrics of this song are amazing. just because they appear to be simple, narrating a story or whatever, doesn't mean they were meant to be simple. I think Fagen was trying to make a snapshot of a feeling or an idea rather than a story.
January 9th, 2009 at 01:07:35 if you simply dismiss the lyrics as 'simple' you are missing something, just try and dig deeper, you'll find something greater. For vocals, i like Fagen because it all isn't some bland homogeneous 'crap' that you find throughout rock history, he brought something new to the table. Just because it isn't perfect, and because it isn't heavily edited and pitch corrected like almost all of today's music doesn't mean it sucks. Remember, Janis Joplin kicked a lot of ass, too.
January 9th, 2009 at 01:30:34 This is one of my favorite Steely Dan songs!! Classic!
January 9th, 2009 at 01:53:33 cool
January 9th, 2009 at 02:16:32 man this song is so great!
January 9th, 2009 at 02:39:31 I've been listening to S Dan since their first album; love the stuff, except for "M the Cat" album sadly. Anyway! I think you should leave all coments good or bad (perhaps not the totally over the top ones)because it builds character, and it is a democratic experience.
January 9th, 2009 at 03:02:30 I lovvee this tune haha the funny thing is the first time i listened to it I hated it!
January 9th, 2009 at 03:25:29 Too bad for you, so close minded with little life experience. Maybe that's a good thing (the latter of course).
