Ostfront-Offensive und Wannsee-Konferenz Im Juni begann eine neue deutsche Offensive an der Ostfront in doppelter Stossrichtung, sie blieb jedoch im September 1942 in Stalingrad und am Kaukasus stecken. Die deutschen Truppen hatten nun in der Sowjetunion eine viel zu lange Frontlinie zu verteidigen. Im November startete die russische Gegenoffensive bei Stalingrad, die deutsche Armee wurde eingekesselt. Ab Januar konnten die deutsch-italienischen Truppen in Nordafrika wieder Boden gewinnen, doch der Vormarsch blieb in der El-Alamein-Stellung stecken. Nach einem britischen Gegenangriff wurde die Verbände wieder zurückgeworfen. Doch die Westalliierten planten nun die endgültige Eroberung Nordafrikas und eröffneten durch die Landung britisch-amerikanischer Truppen in Marokko und Algerien im November eine zweite Front in Nordafrika. Nach anfänglichem Widerstand gingen die französischen Truppen zu den Alliierten über, daraufhin landeten deutsche und italienische Truppen in Tunesien, Vichy-Frankreich wurde besetzt. Die Deutschen führten einen massiven U-Bootkrieg, um die alliierten Nachschubverbindungen im Atlantik zu unterbrechen. Im Frühjahr 1942 begannen die Briten und im Januar 1943 die Amerikaner mit den Bombardierungen deutsche Städte. Nachdem bereits 1941 erste Vernichtungslager errichtet worden waren, wurden auf der Wannsee-Konferenz vom 20. Januar 1942 die organisatorischen Vorbereitungen für den systematisch betriebenen Völkermord an den europäischen Juden getroffen. (Siehe auch Holocaust.) Die Japaner eroberten immer weitere Teile Südost-Asiens. Unter anderem gerieten Singapur, Hongkong, der grösste Teil der Philippinen, Niederländisch-Indien und der nördliche Teil von Neuguinea in japanische Gewalt. Damit hatte Japan Zugriff auf riesige Territorien und die dort vorhandenen Rohstoffe. Mit der Schlacht bei den Midway-Inseln (3.-7. Juni) begann die Gegenoffensive der Amerikaner.

This clip comes from "The Powers Girl" (1942). The arrangement appears to be the Jimmy Mundy revision Benny commissioned in 1941 of the Mary Lou Williams classic, originally immortalized by BG's '37 band. Decimated by the WWII draft, this transitional ensemble was trashed by critics as one of Goodman's weakest...but six decades later, Benny and the band sound awfully good indeed! Bonus: Watch for George Murphy and Dennis Day. ("The Powers Girl" also gave moviegoers a relatively rare opportunity to see Benny sans specs.)

You can get Gamer Points too. Hooray. I think this is also on the Playstation Network and not sure if they'll use it for Home or not. Not sure if it is on VC Virtual Console on Wii either. A tribute movie for the game Battlefield 1942 and to some great WW2 movies and all WW2 heroes. Made of only BF1942 sounds and cuts from WW2 diffrent movies. Its around 170 single sounds from BF1942. Some sound is recorded ingame and some are extracted from game files. I worked to get the lipsynk good but not dedicated 100% cuz I focused on a story and variations also. To make this movie I spent around 3 weeks of editing.
