This tutorial teaches you how to mask in Sony Vegas! This tutorial was taught using Sony Vegas 7.0 Professional. Difficulty: Moderate

A few people asked for it so here it is. My own tutorial on how to mask in Sony Vegas Pro to give the illusion that there are several versions of yourself in one video. Keep in mind that Sony Vegas Pro is the only software out of the 3 Sony Vegas software options that supports masking so if you are not using Pro you will not be able to do this. I ran into some issues with my webcam & the video capture software messing up the videos. Basically what happened was my audio and video became unsynchronized a few minutes into each video so basically what I did for the live action video was I removed the sound and narrated the video. With the screenshot portion where I am working in sony vegas you will notice that the audio is not correctly synched up with the video. There is only a delay of a few seconds, however; so I didn't feel it was necessary to narrate that portion again. I hope this video is helpful in your attempts to clone/mask in Sony Vegas Pro. Feel free to post your work as a video response as I would love to see what you all come up with. If you have any questions/comments you can leave them below or send me a message over youtube and I'll be happy to answer them. This is by far the largest project I've ever worked on! I started recording footage around early November and completing everything took about a week to a week and a half. -death by masking- Not only that, but I constantly had to keep changing clips because after rewatching a scene, I would find out it looked incredibly blasphemous and feel soooo terrible. And seriously. The masking was death. The scene at 1:35 had 142 masking keyframes and the scene at 1:45 had 73. At least those were the hardest parts. Some verses in the video go by too quickly so if you don't mind, please pause the video for a few seconds to read them? All recordings and photos in the amv were taken by yours truly. Recording at JMU was really tough because I had headed down to the lake to record and realized I didn't know what angle to record them at for Yuna's masking. So all the angles were pretty much guesswork. The footage of the lake at a large distance was taken from my sister's dorm so no, I can not fly. The idea of this video is to get back to basics a bit - no textures, no colouring (other than some desaturating), and no real effects other than masking. It was nice to step back from that and focus on the emotion behind the video, which is always the most important thing to me. So anyone who is disappointed in the lack of effects - just keep in mind that the emotion is a hell of a lot more important than any effects could ever be.

HQ didnt appear on this vid for some reason D: This song has been stuck in my head ever since i saw the new ending, and the best way to get a song out of you head... make an amv with it! xD well since everyone has been making fan endings lately, i've wanted to make one too :) I wanted to try to make a sasusaku fan ending very similar to the " Long Kiss Goodbye" one, and so, tada! for such a short and simple vid it sure did take a long time D: i had to change some parts for my own b/c i couldnt find clips to match and towards the end i was getting lazy ^^; and omg it was such a bitch trying to make asuma's hand look like sasuke's D: and i still dont think it looks all the great but, oh well 8D i tried masking asuma's shoes to look like sasuke's as well but um...ya that didnt turn out so well xD ah, and all the japanese stuff i put in there is mostly random words xD like cherry blossom, i love you, cresent moon, goodbye...stuff i thought related to sasuke and sakura ^___^ but some of it is the actually staff names and stuff... or at least i hope it is O.o otherwise its probably some other random stuff but w/e =D i didnt put that many effects in b/c i wanted to keep it simple. Near the end, I really started to hate it, and I'm making a different video. But meh, I have a video, might as well show it. It will be removed when the actual contest video is finished. Story: What would've happened if Rinoa had turned into a full-fledged sorceress possessed by Ultimecia. Squall would've had to kill her as his duty as SeeD. Battle commences, he obviously gets owned, makes one last slash, for some reason that turns Rinoa back to normal, but he's dead. Yea, you can totally see why I'm not using this vid. P.S. I didn't bother masking the last scenes, so fail. My bad.
